A family of three.

October 11, 2011

Meet the Ward Family! This charming little family is good friends and backyard neighbors with my SIL and her hubs. They share a fence, with a gate, and an outdoor pizza oven – how cool is that!

Lindsay asked me to take their family photos with their new 6-month addition Ethan on her Grandmothers property. Lindsay and Steve had their engagement photos taken here and had their wedding here, so it only seemed right that we snapped a few pics with their new boy here as well. It was beautiful land with giant trees, rolling grass, gardens and a creek with a bridge and waterfalls.

I have to be honest, I was nervous to do this. Taking pictures of a squirmy 6-mo is a little more difficult than staging a photo shoot with my cat who just lounges in the sun. (Did I just admit what a loser cat-lady I am?) With a full belly and lots of distractions, and my lovely assistant Nick, we had a great time with these photos and got lots of smiles.

And who doesn’t love chubby baby toes!

As a newbie, the hardest part for me was knowing poses to try and how to get your peeps looking good. There was a lot of awkward…uhh.how about..this? Ok no, that looks weird, how about this? But after a while we got in a groove, and the best pictures came out when everyone was comfortable.

Look at those eyes. Is it normal to be envious of a 6-month old’s eyelashes?

Thanks for letting me capture your adorable smiles.
